Sal Valentinetti, born on August 26th, 1995 in Long Island, New York is a jazz musician and singer from currently based out of Bethpage, New York. Sal first came into public awareness with his audition for the 14th season of American Idol. He did not qualify for the live shows, but continued on with his singing nonetheless. Sal’s ambition is to bring back the jazz vocal styling’s of the 1950’s. His musical influences include Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.
In 2016 Sal auditioned for the 11th season of America’s Got Talent. He auditioned with the Frank Sinatra song called “My Way.” Sal gained two votes of ‘yes’ by judges Howie Mandel and Mel B. Heidi Klum, the third judge sent Sal straight into the quarter final stage of the competition. In the quarterfinals Sal sang a jazz version of One Direction’s song “Story of My Life.” The performance received a standing ovation from the judges and sent Sal to the semi-finals. In the semi-final round Sal sang Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life” and was sent through to the finals. In the finals Sal teamed up with the Jersey Boys to sing “December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night).” Sal finished in 5th place overall. After the show Sal started his own band called The Black Tie Brass and performed sold out shows in in New York and Westbury.
