Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Rising Appalachia is an American music band that performs Appalachian folk and soul music. The group consists of Leah Song, Chloe Smith, Biko Casini, David Brown, Arouna Diarra, and Duncan Wickel. Rising Appalachia was formed by Leah and Song and Chloe Smith in 2004 when they released their debut studio project, Leah and Chloe. They eventually joined the other members of their band and began touring internationally. Their discography includes the hit singles Resilient, Medicine, Novels of Acquaintance, Sunu, and the studio projects The Sails of Self, Wider Circles, and The Lost Mystique of Being in the Know. Rising Appalachia was named Atlanta's Best Folk Act by Creative Loafing.
