Regina Elaine Belle (born July 17, 1963) is a singer-songwriter from the United States who began her career in the mid-1980s.
She has made a name for herself in the urban contemporary music arena as a prolific and constantly entertaining vocalist. Belle was born in New Jersey and grew up listening to church music, yet she was also drawn to R&B. She studied trombone, tuba, and steel drums, and at the age of 12, she won a school competition singing "Don't Ask My Neighbors" by The Emotions.
Belle was a member of a vocal ensemble in New Jersey and studied opera and jazz in college. Vaughn Harper, a New York music jockey, introduced her to the Manhattans, and she began performing as their opening act. In 1986, they recorded a duet with Belle called "Where Did We Go Wrong," which was produced by Bobby Womack.
To date, she has several hit songs, including "Please Be Mine," which received critical acclaim and a number two R&B hit. Stay with Me, her second album cemented her success, and she went on to gain even more praise by releasing more hit songs and albums in the following years.
