Poor Man's Poison is a four piece all acoustic Americana band with roots from Rock, Folk, Metal, Reggae, and Pop. The members included guitarists and vocalists Ryan Hakker and Mike Jacobs, mandolin player and vocalist, Tommy McCarthy, and drummer and vocalist, Dustin Medeiros. Their tracks feature a series of diverse influences converging into a single, consistent dynamic sound. Each component is integral, and serves the greater whole.

Drummer Dustin Medeiros was initially a part of Done For Good. However, after being diagnosed with tinnitus, it was apparent that he would have to wave goodbye to not just his band, but to loud music altogether. As the group disintegrated, singer and guitarist, Ryan Hakker and Mike Jacobs continued to work on more acoustic music, eventually arranging a show at a place called Lush in their hometown, Hanford California.

At the show, Medeiros played a standup bass, and former Done For Good guitarist, Tommy McCarthy, arrived on the second day with a borrowed mandolin. “After he played that first hook melody, Medeiros and the rest of the crew knew they had a band. Following that magical event, the group has accomplished far more than any of their prior endeavors, in far less time. Their second album titled, Friends With The Enemy, was released in January 2011.
