Peter Seeger, also known as Pete, was born on 3rd May, 1919 in New York, New York, United States, and passed away on 27th January, 2014. He is a singer, artist, performer, environmentalist, pacifist, social activist, human rights activist, and musician. Pop, rock, and folk are his musical specialties, and his style is folk revival, children's folk, folksongs, political folk, protest songs, and traditional folk. He is known for being a member of bands like The Weavers and Almanac Singers. Some of his song highlights are “Where Have All the Flowers Gone”, “Little Boxes”, “This Land Is Your Land”, “If I Had a Hammer”, “Casey Jones”, “Skip to my Lou”, “We Shall Overcome”, “Yankee Doodle”, “Big Rock Candy Mountain”, and many more. In the movies, he is known for his work on “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind”, “Forrest Gump”, “Pride”, “Raising Arizona”, etc. Seeger has a total of 15 Grammy Award Nominations and 4 Grammy Awards won. In 1993, he won a Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement Award, in 1996 he won one for Best Traditional Folk Album for “Pete”. In 2008, he won a Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album for “At 89”, and in 2010, he won a Grammy for Best Musical Album for Children for “Tomorrow's Children”. He also won a Kennedy Center Honor in 1994.
