Nubiyan Twist is a London-based music band formed by their guitarist and producer Yom Excell in Leeds College of Music in 2011. The band includes between ten to twelve members.
Nubiyan Twist consists of three primary vocalists, four-piece horn section, and a rhythm section that assist to create a robust line performance. Their style of music can be described as expansive, electronic music formed from a blend of soul, funk, jazz, reggae, Indian classical music, and electronic dance music.
The band released its first album in 2015, which received huge support from members of the jazz and hip-hop community. Also, it earned them support gigs with a number of music groups such as Hot 8 Brass Band, De la Soul, etc. A year later, the band released an EP that consisted of five songs.
Their popularity has increased over the years, and have a large fanbase in Asia, and Europe. Their last album was released in 2021.
