Mutual Benefit is a music project led by songwriter and singer Jordan Lee, a talented multi-instrumentalist born in Brooklyn, New York, and various musicians invited by Lee. The line up has been changing through the years but it has included artists like Samuel Yager, Katie Pierce and Marc Merza, amongst many others. The project started around 2009, in Austin, Texas, U.S. While touring in 2011, Lee started composing the songs that would make up their debut album “Love’s Crushing Diamond”. They recorded the album at Ohm Recording Studio in Austin and it was released in October, 2013. The album’s indie-folk sounds blended with light pop was acclaimed by the critics. It includes the songs “Advance Falconry” and “Golden Wake”. The album was named in Pitchfork’s Magazine in the section “Best New Music”. In 2009, they released their debut album “Figure in Black”, soon followed by the EP “Drifting”.
