About Marton Csokas
Marton Paul Csokas was born on June 30, 1966 in Invercargill, New Zealand. He landed his first acting role in 1990, which was a small play called Te Whanau a Tuanui Jones by Apairana Taylor. The first series he appeared in was Shark in the Park, a drama series. He holds citizenship in the European Union, Hungary, and the United States, so his works span worldwide.
One of Csokas’s most notable achievements was when he cofounded his own theater company in the 1990’s, which he named the Stronghold Theater. From the late 1990’s into the early 2000’s, he played a recurring role of Borias in Xena: Warrior Princess. This opened him up to many similar projects, including his large role in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which was one of the most lucrative series in history.
He won the AACTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and the Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Romulus, My Father in 2007. He was also nominated for two respected awards for his work in Dead Europe in 2013. He has starred in countless projects with other widely known celebrities including Jessica Chastain, Natasha Richardson, Ian McKellen, Matt Damon, Denzel Washington, and Liam Neeson.
