Coming from Duluth, Minnesota, Low was formed in 1993. They can be considered to be the slowest of all slow-core bands. The band was composed of guitarist/vocalist Alan Sparhawl, drummer Mimi Parker, and bassist John Nichols. The band signed under Vernon Yard label. In 1994, their debut “I Could Live in Hope” was released.

Nichols left the group prior to the release of “Long Division” in 1995. The band’s new bassist was Zak Sally. Their EP release “Transmission” was released the following year. In 1996, Low released another album “The Curtain Hits the Cast” followed by “Songs for a Dead Pilot” EP in 1997.
