Liam Charles (born 28 August 1997 in Hackney, London) is a British baker, actor, and television presenter most renowned as a contestant from Series 8 of The Great British Bake Off.
Although Charles began baking in 2013, he first came to limelight in 2017 as a contestant on The Great British Bake Off. He appeared on the show while studying theater and drama at Goldsmiths University. Unfortunately, Charles was knocked out in the 8th week of the competition in a fifth place finish. Regardless, Charles was chosen in 2018 to co-present Bake Off: The Professionals with comedian Tom Allen. In November 2018, he also presented the baking programme Liam Bakes on Channel 4.
In November 2019, Charles was chosen with Prue Leith as the new judge for Junior Bake Off. In 2022, he sat as a judge on The Platinum Pudding Competition, a nationwide baking competition launched throughout the United Kingdom on January 10, 2022 by Buckingham Palace, Fortnum & Mason and The Big Jubilee Lunch to find a brand new pudding dedicated to Queen Elizabeth II.
Besides appearing in baking competitions, Charles writes a column on baking for The Guardian. He has also written two cookbooks, Cheeky Treats: 70 Brilliant Bakes and Cakes, released on July 12, 2018, and Second Helpings released September 19, 2019. In October 2022, he appeared in the sixth episode of the UK series, The Masked Dancer.
