Leon Eric Brooks III, widely known as Kix Brooks, is an American country music singer, actor and film producer born on May 12, 1955, in Shreveport, Louisiana, United States. Brooks is most famous for being part of American country music duo Brooks & Dunn and hosting the internationally syndicated weekly radio show American Country Countdown. He started his musical career with songwriting and later went on to release his debut album ‘Kix Brooks’ in 1989 with Capitol Records. The album’s song ‘Sacred Ground’ was an immediate hit and climbed to number 2 country hit. He joined Ronnie Dunn to form the duo Brooks & Dunn. The duo released their debut album ‘Brand New Man’ in 1991 with its four tracks ranking number 1 on the country charts. The duo split in 2009 after twenty years of performing and producing music together, after which Brooks continued as a solo artist. He released his album ‘New to This Town’ in 2012. Brooks & Dunn made an impressive comeback in 2014 along with the famous country singer Reba McEntire. Selling more than 30 million records, the duo has earned 19 CMA Awards, 28 ACM Awards and 2 Grammys awards while garnering national and international fame.
