Kate Boy is the stage name of synthpop Swedish duo. The duo, consisting of Kate Akhurst and Markus Dextegen is based in Stockholm. When they started playing as a band in 2012, Hampus Nordgrin Helmin and Oskar Sikow were members of the band, but they left it a few years later. The band released their debut single “Northern Lights” in 2012, soon followed by “The Way We Are” and “Self Control”. They released their debut album “One” in 2015, through Niki Roberton’s label Iamsound Records, which is also the label of the likes of Io Echo, Lord Huron and MEN. The album features Akhurst’s impressive vocal mastery singing poetic lyrics on catchy dream pop rhythms. Their sound has been compared to the likes of Knife and Fever Ray.
