Singer-songwriter Jesse Boykins III was born on February 20, 1985 in Chicago, Ilinois. He joined the school choir at age nine and in high school, he performed with the Grammy Jazz Ensemble. He also recorded an album with them. Boykins was recruited by The New School in New York, where he honed his songwriting and performing skills.

After college, he released his debut EP, “Dopamine: My Life on My Back,” in February 2008. In November 2008, he released a follow-up EP entitled “The Beauty Created.” He tours with his band, The Beauty Created, which consists of members Machine Drum (DJ), Ojay Ross III (trumpet), Dennis Turner (bass), Adam Jackson (drums), Jeremy Most (guitar and bass), Aaron Hardin (keyboards) and Steve Wyreman (guitar). In collaboration with MeLo-X, he released a full-lenthy album, “Zulu Guru,” in 2012. In 2014, he released the album “Love Apparatus.” It peaked at number 42 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. His single, “OurOur Tonight is Mine,” released in early 2015 reached number 34 on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists chart.
