Jacob Collier is a British jazz multi-instrumentalist and vocalist born in North London in 1994. He grew up in a musical household and became famous in 2011 for YouTube musical videos where he arranged and performed all instruments, as a one-man-show in a grid layout. Collier then studied music at the Royal Academy of Music and also collaborated with MIT’s media lab in Massachusetts to further develop his one-man live show. His method was featured in 2015’s Montreux Jazz Festival as an opening act for Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea and proved to be a success. Collier had his solo debut in 2016 with the full-length album “In My Room,” which received two Grammy Awards later that year. The young artist then embarked on a world tour, and in 2018 he issued the first of a four-volume record project titled “Djesse” featuring the talents of Jules Buckley and Hamid El Kasri, among others. The following volume had appearances by Lianne La Havas, Oumou Sangaré, and Sam Amidon, and received a Grammy Award in 2019. 2020’s “Djesse Vol. 3” featured collaborations by T-Pain and Ty Dolla $ign.
