HWLS is an Australian electronic music project led by Justin Elwin which began as a duo made of DJs and electronic musicians Kit Pot and Ta-Ku. Ta-Ku is the stage name of Regan Matthews and Kit Pot is the alias of Justin Elwin. They both were established electronic musicians before starting producing music together, around the early 2010s. In 2014, they signed with Future Classic label and a few months later they released their debut EP. The EP displayed influences of heavy bass and industrial techno which received positive reviews. They followed up with a string of remixes of artists like TOKiMONSTA, Hermitude and Death Grips, before they eventually split and Elwin continued the project alone. In 2017, he released the second HWLS’s EP called “EP02”.
