Harlan Coben is an American contemporary fiction writer who was born on January 4, 1962, in Newark, New Jersey. He became very popular because of his successful thriller and mystery stories. He began writing in college while he was studying political science at Amherst College, where he was also a member of the Psi Upsilon Fraternity alongside fellow writer Dan Brown.
His first novel was published in 1990 and was titled “Play Dead”, which was followed by “Miracle Cure” in 1991. In 1995 he published the first book of the Myron Bolitar series, which is “Deal Breaker”. This novel received the 1996 Anthony Award. The series has 11 books in total and finished in 2016. His last seven novels made it to #1 New York Times bestselling list among which stand out “The Boy from the Woods” and “Run Away”. Among other awards, he received 1997 Shamus Award and the Edgar Awards for “Fade Away”, “1998 Barry Award" for “Back Spin” and the RBA Prize for Crime Writing in 2010 for “Live Wire”.
