Born in August 25, 1949, Gene Simmons or legally known as Chaim Witz, came from Tirat Carmel, Haifa, Israel. During his early years, he and his mother relocated in the United States, changing his name to Gene Klein. He discovered rock and roll, making him play as bassist for some rock bands in New York. During his early 20s, he became a school teacher but eventually went back to music, joining Stanley Eisen.
Influenced by the Beatles, the two formed Wicked Lester. Then, they were joined by two others, Peter Criscoula and Paul Frehley. All members changed names according to their personality. Together they formed KISS, one of the best rock bands during the ‘70s onwards.
