Dr. Sid, born Sidney Onoriode Esiri, is a Nigerian hip-hop artist. Prior to his music career, Sid was a practicing dental surgeon – hence, the “doctor” part of his stage name. Sid’s music career began in 2003, when he performed as one of the founding members of Nigeria’s first music crew, Da Trybe, beside the likes of Eldee, Sasha, and 2shotz. He later signed with Mavin Records (formerly Mohits Record Label). Popular singles include “Flawless,” “Last Bus Stop,” “Oyari,” and “Surlere.”
Career accomplishments include being ranked #4 on the Billboard Charts Next Big Sounds, and winning two awards at 2011’s Hip Hop World Awards – one for “Best Pop Single,” the other for “Revelation of The Year.” Dr. Sid has collaborated with other artists like: Wizkid, DJ Big, K-Switch, Eva, and Don Jazzy.
