DJ Akademiks, born Livingston Allen on May 17th, 1989 in Spanish-Town, Jamaica and currently residing in New York City, New York. Livingston got his moniker as a DJ while disc jockeying during is stint at Rutgers University.

While attending university, Livingston started his own website called Late Night Creep. On the site he covered hip-hop music news and culture. As the site grew, he started to expand his coverage to the Urban entertainment industry. Dj Akademiks then started his own YouTube channel. In 2014 his channel started to gain serious traction based on his coverage of the drill music scene in Chicago. The channel currently has over 1.3 million subscribers and has over 700 million views.
