About Dion DiMucci
Dion DiMucci, better known as Dion, is a singer and songwriter born on July 18, 1939, in the Bronx, New York City, New York. He is known for his eclectic mix of R & B, blues, doo-wop, and rock. During his teenage years, Dion sang at street corners and bars, rounding local singers to perform acapella arrangements. In 1957, Dion and three of these singers banded together to form Dion and The Belmonts. They released hit singles like I Wonder Why and A Teenager In Love and toured extensively across the United States. Dion ventured out as a solo artist in 1960, releasing his first solo album, Alone With Dion. DiMucci continued to release popular songs like Runaround Sue, Lovers Who Wander, and Abraham, Martin and John. In 1989, Dion was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the same year as the Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, and the Soul Stirrers. His life and journey as a musician is retold in the Broadway musical, The Wanderer.
