Daniel Dwayne Simmons, known better for his stage name as Diggy Simmons, was born in Queens, New York, on March 21, 1995. He is the son of Joseph Rev Run Simmons of Run DMC. In 2009, at the young age of 14, Diggy released his mixtape The First Flight, but his entrance into the world of fame came when he appeared for four years on the show Run’s House from 2005 to 2009. Shortly after his debut mixtape, he was signed to Atlantic Records.
In 2010, Simmons released his second mixtape Airborne following the major success of his song “Oh Yeah!” with Pharrell Williams and Lupe Fiasco. In late 2010, Simmons released his third mixtape Past Presents Future, which featured samples from the greats back in the day such as A Tribe Called Quest and Rakim. The day before his 17th birthday, Simmons released his debut album Unexpected Arrival, which sent him on tour across North America. His collaborations to date include songs with B.o.B, Key Wane, and Trevor Jackson.
