Daniel Ronald Lanois is a Canadian singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer from Ancaster, Ontario. Lanois began his production career recording in 1981 with local bands and artists such as Martha and the Muffins, Raffi and Ray Maverick. He released his first solo album, ‘Acadie’ in 1989. Eventually, Lanois got to work with producer Brian Eno who invited him to co-produce with U2 on their album, ‘The Unforgettable Fire’ and ‘the Joshua Tree’ where the latter won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Lanois himself received a Juno Award in 1990 for “Most Promising Artist” after receiving recognition for his work with U2. Lanois’ name became known in the music industry and was referred to work with Bob Dylan on his album, ‘Oh Mercy’, ‘Time Out of Mind’ and ‘Chronicles, Vol. 1’. Along with his work for Bob Dylan, Lanois worked with Peter Gabriel on the multi-platinum album ‘Birdy’ and Neil Young on his record, ‘Le Noise’. Throughout his career, has 19 albums on his discography and has made it to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2002. In 2019, Lanois’ recorded his most recent project for the soundtrack for video game Red Dead Redemption 2. Throughout Lanois’ career, his experimentation and production of all genres of music has won him 7 Grammy wins and 15 nominations.
