Cancer Bats is a Canadian punk group from Toronto, Ontario. The band consists of vocal lead Liam Cormier, guitarist Scott Middleton, bassist Jaye R. Schwarzer and drummer Mike Peters. Cancer Bats was founded in 2004 by their lead singer Liam Cormier and guitarist Scott Middleton. The band released their first album in 2006 titled ‘Birthing the Giant’ under independent record label Distort Entertainment after their signing in 2005. The Cancer Bats began to play over Canada with a few shows in the U.S. after their release including going on tour opening for Billy Talent. In 2008, the band released their second album, ‘Hail Destroyer’ then went on to tour once again at metal festivals. In 2010, they released their third album, ‘Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones’ followed by their 2012 album, ‘Dead Set On Living’. Their fifth album, ‘Searching for Zero’ was released in 2015 followed by their sixth and current album, ‘The Spark That Moves’ in 2018. ‘Dead Set on Living’, ‘Searching for Zero’ and ‘The Spark That Moves’ all received a nomination from the Juno Award for the Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year.
