Banda El Recodo is a Mexican band that was formed in 1938 in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico. The founder of the band was self-taught clarinet Don Cruz Lizarraga who was born on July 1st 1918.

The band rose to fame after winning the first Grammy for Best Banda Performance for Lo Mejor de Mi Vida at the first annual Latin Grammy Awards show. They performed for three consecutive nights in 2003 at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional. Their 2016 album Mas Fuerte Que Nunca was a hit which further expanded their audience. They also appeared in the Televisa telenovela La Fea Mas Bella and also their songs was used as soundtracks in the American films Rocky Balboa and Babel.
