The younger sister of singer Jessica Simpson, Ashlee Simpson was born in Waco, Texas, on October 3, 1984. In her youth, she was a skilled ballerina, but the family decided to move them to Los Angeles to further her older sister’s singing career. Ashlee Simpson performed many times as one of Jessica Simpson’s backup dancers, and in 2003, she released the track “Just Let Me Cry”, which appeared on the soundtrack for the movie Freaky Friday. The next summer, she released her debut studio album Autobiography, released through Geffen Records. Autobiography featured the smash hit “Pieces of Me”, which was awarded “Song of the Summer” at the Teen Choice Awards. The album was eventually certified triple Platinum. Ashlee Simpson would go on to release her second album, I Am Me in 2005, which featured the songs “L.O.V.E.” and “Boyfriend”. She followed this with her third album Bittersweet World in 2008.
