Alexandra Raisman is an American gymnast born in Needham, Massachusetts on May 25, 1994. She is a two-time Olympian and has won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal. She participated in the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Alexandra started doing gymnastics at the age of two and trained at Exxcel Gymnastics and climbing through level 8 before changing to Brestyan’s American Gymnastics Club with the coaches Mihai Brestyan and Silvia Brestyan. She trained alongside the former Olympian Alicia Sacramone, who she considered a sister. Throughout her career she has won gold medals at two World Championships in 2011 in Tokyo and in 2015 in Glasgow three gold medals at the Pacific Rim Championships, one in 2010 in Melbourne and two in 2016 in Everett. She has also come in first at a number of other competitions. In 2013 she was a contestant on season 16 of Dancing With the Stars finishing in fourth place. She was awarded the Arthur Ashe Courage Award in 2018.
