Alex Timbers is a writer and director born on 7th August 1978 in New York, United States. He is best known for his work on the musical “Moulin Rouge! The Musical!”, which earned him the 2021 Tony Award in the category of Best Director of a Musical. Timber started his career as the Artistic Director of Les Freres Corbusier, an experimental theatre company, in 2003. Some of his productions under the company included “Hell House”, “Hoover Comes Alive!”, “Dance Dance Revolution”, and others.
He also wrote and directed many off-broadway and Broadway productions, which significantly contributed to his popularity in the industry. He made his television debut as a director in 2018 with the standup comedy film “John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City”. He co-created the television series “Mozart in the Jungle” alongside Paul Weitz, Jason Schwartzman, and Roman Coppola. The series won the 2016 Golden Globe Award in the Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
