Alabama 3 is a musical group from Brixton, London. The group was formed in 1995 by Jake Black and Rob Spragg when they met at a rave in Peckham. The band is widely recognized for its song “Woke Up This Morning,” which was used in the American crime drama TV series “The Sopranos.” Their music style combines electronic pop with elements of blues and country styles. In 1997, they signed with the independent record label “One Little Indian Records.” They released their first album, titled “Exile on Coldharbour Lane”, under the label.
In 2000, the group released its second album, “La Peste.” They embarked on a tour under the name “Alabama 3: Acoustic and Unplugged” in August 2007 to promote their new album “M.O.R.” John “Segs” (bassist) left the group to focus on something else. In 2009, Aurora Dawn joined the group, having toured with them in the early days. Early 2011, Piers Marsh (programmer and founding member) left the group.
