nicknames Other Names / Nicknames:
Alfredo James Pacino

Al Pacino was born on April 25, 1940 in the Bronx, New York. He established himself as one of the greatest actors of all time. He discovered his passion for the stage at the early age when he was in school. In 1966, Al Pacino started his acting course in the Actors Studio and was coached by Lee Strasberg. His first roles were low key supporting roles, and it was not until his role in The Indian Wants the Bronx that he won an award, which was the Obie Award. Before appearing as Michael Corleone in the Godfather, he had roles in the movies The Panic in Needle Park (1971) and Me, Natalie (1969). The Godfather was a big hit, and Al Pacino earned his first Academy nomination for best-supporting actor. Soon he accepted roles in the movies Serpico (1973) and Dog Day Afternoon (1975). All of the roles secured him Oscars nomination three years in a row. His other movies have been a mix of high success movies, such as Scarface in 1983, and not so well accepted ones, such as Revolution in 1985. It wasn’t until five years later that he starred in Godfather II, which got his career back on track. Dick Tracy (1990) got him another Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, as did Glengarry Glen Ross in 1992.  He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in performance in Scent of a Woman (1992).  Some of his 90’s and 2000’s movies are Richard (1996), City Hall (1996), Donnie Brasco (1997), Given Sunday (1999), and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007).
