A Perfect Circle is an alternative rock supergroup which has managed to survive longer than most supergroups by keeping a fresh stock of supporting members rotating. The group was founded by Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel, vocalist and guitarist for the band Tool. While it’s still prone to downtime while Keenan is busy with other matters, it’s been surprisingly resilient.
Former / present / rotating members of A Perfect Circle have included artists from: Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Smashing Pumpkins, Queens of the Stone Age, Zwan, Puscifer, Failure, and Eagles of Death Metal. At four studio albums, they’ve made quite a name for themselves, with the first two, “Mer de Noms” (2000) and “Thirteenth Step” (2003) certified platinum. Their singles have charted decently, with “Weak and Powerless” (2003) scoring #1 on Billboard US Alternative and Mainstream charts.
