Yasmin Levy, born on December 23rd, 1975 in Jerusalem, Israel is an Israeli-Spanish singer and songwriter. She focuses on the genres of sephardic music, world music, flamenco and Ladino music. She learned about her cultural music from her father Yitzhak Levy, a researcher of the Ladino language. Yasmin’s music is typically composed of traditional Ladino instruments such as the oud, violin, piano and the cello.

In 2000 Yasmin released her debut album called Romance & Yasmin. The album gained her a nomination from BBC Radio 3 World Music Awards for “ Best Newcomer.” In 2005 Yasmin released her second studio album entitled La Juderia. The album contained covers of the the songs “Gracias a la Vida” by Violeta Parra and “Naci en Alamo” by Tony Gatlif. In 2006 she released a live album called LIve at the Tower of David, Jerusalem. In 2007 Yasmin released her next studio album entitled Mano Suave.

Yasmin released her fourth studio album in 2012 called Libertad. She followed up with another album in 2014 called Tango and then a new album in 2017 called Rak Od Layla Echad. Yasmin won an Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean foundation Award for promoting cross-cultural cooperation between musicians of three different cultures.
