Under the agreement, both producers will act as advisors to ensure the software assists human artists rather than replacing them.

This deal represents the first time either DJ has worked directly with Moises. However, both artists hold long histories with major music brands. Van Buuren previously partnered with Philips to design DJ headphones and released production courses with MasterClass. Laidback Luke has built trusted gear partnerships with Pioneer DJ and Denon DJ.

Meanwhile, Moises previously collaborated with progressive rock icon Jordan Rudess to refine its flagship stem-separation and smart practice features.

Dance artists continue to branch out into creator technology and commercial partnerships. In similar moves across the industry, producer KSHMR partnered with OneOdio to launch Studio Max 2 headphones for studio creators, while Marshmello partnered with Burn Boot Camp in an exclusive fitness partnership to bridge music and wellness.

Both Van Buuren and Laidback Luke remain active on the world stage. Fresh off headline performances at Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival, Van Buuren recently released new club singles while celebrating milestone broadcasts of his A State of Trance brand. Laidback Luke continues to tour international club circuits and run his Mixmash Records label.

Through their new advisory roles, both veterans will give direct feedback on stem separation, beat-matching, and ethical AI safeguards to support the next generation of studio producers.

Takeaways

The debate around artificial intelligence in music often centers on fear, but this partnership shows how artists can take control of the conversation. Instead of waiting for tech companies to dictate how music is made, Van Buuren and Laidback Luke are stepping directly into the development room.

Their involvement signals that AI tools can serve as practical studio assistants, handling tedious tasks like stem splitting and mix analysis, without stripping away the human touch. When legacy artists help write the rulebook, both creator rights and software quality stand to benefit.

Will having trusted DJs co-design AI software convince skeptical producers to adopt the technology? How can artist-led tech partnerships help protect copyright and fair pay for human creators? Will more touring DJs choose software equity and tech advisory roles over traditional product sponsorships?

Electronic dance music icons Armin van Buuren and Laidback Luke have joined forces with AI audio platform Moises to co-develop new creative tools for music makers.
