Matt Johnson, one of the most respected artist managers in the UK, has left Red Light Management, the global management powerhouse he joined in 2012, to launch his own firm, The Together Company.

Johnson spent over a decade building his roster at Red Light’s London office, where he developed a reputation for working closely with artists at every stage of their careers.

Joining him at the new venture are three key clients: folk-pop singer-songwriter Lewis Watson, who recently dropped “Your Light” in April 2026; UK pop icons Sugababes, currently riding high ahead of their long-awaited ninth studio album after a successful arena tour in 2025 and singles “Jungle,” “Weeds,” and “Shook”; and R&B rising star Tyler Lewis, who released her latest single “Til’ Death Do Us Part” in 2026.

This kind of independent breakaway echoes similar moves seen across the industry recently, much like Michael Bryan’s launch of Southern Drift and Jon Mason and David Lewis’s formation of Mason Lewis Entertainment.

Takeaways

Johnson’s exit from Red Light is a telling sign of where the management business is heading. After years inside one of the world’s largest management infrastructures, he’s betting that a tighter, more focused operation will serve his artists better, and the roster he’s taken with him says his clients agree.

The Together Company launches with real commercial weight. Sugababes are prepping a new album, Tyler Lewis is gaining serious traction, and Lewis Watson remains a beloved figure with a loyal fanbase. This isn’t a startup, it’s a scaled-down powerhouse.

What does it say about the health of large management conglomerates when experienced managers keep breaking away to go independent? Will The Together Company look to add new, younger artists to the roster alongside its established names? Is Tyler Lewis the breakout star that puts The Together Company on the map in its first year?
