He started his career in 2007 as an actor in the musical drama-comedy film “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,” playing the role of Bert. In 2013, he portrayed Party Guy in the comedy crime film, which also featured Jason Bateman, Melissa McCarthy, Amanda Peet, Genesis Rodriguez, and Jon Favreau.

The following year, he wrote and directed the comedy film “The Moped Diaries,” which was very popular and critically acclaimed. In 2019, he wrote the adventure comedy-drama film “The Peanut Butter Falcon,” starring Shia LaBeouf, Zack Gottsagen, Dakota Johnson, and Thomas Haden Church.
