Toxic Holocaust is an American thrash metal band formed in 1999 in Portland, Oregon, led by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Joel Grind. Grind started the project by writing and recording by himself in his hometown, releasing two demos titled “Radiation Sickness” and “Critical Mass” before 2002. A year later, he issued his full-length debut “Evil Never Dies” and grew a large local fanbase. This success motivated Grind to recruit a backing band for two years before returning to the studio. The band toured again in 2005 in support of the sophomore effort “Hell on Earth,” and later landed a deal with Relapse Records. The band’s third long-player came in 2008 with “An Overdose of Death,” while the label re-issued the band’s debut album, propelling it beyond its initial audience. After “The Gravelord” EP (2011), Grind made his first collaborative studio effort in “Conjure and Command,” featuring Phil Zeller and Nick Bellmore. This line-up remained stable for “Chemistry Of Consciousness” (2013) and “Primal Future” (2019).
