Rael (born Claude Maurice Marcel Vorilhon, on 30 September 1946) is a French journalist who formed the Ralian Movement, a transnational UFO religion, and currently serves as its leader.

Ral, then known as Claude Vorilhon, worked as a sports-car journalist and test driver for his own car-racing magazine, Autopop, before becoming a religious leader.

In December 1973, he founded the Ralian Movement and changed his name to Ral after an alleged extraterrestrial encounter (meaning "messenger of the Elohim"). He went on to write many books on his 1973 meeting with a deity known as Yahweh. For more than 30 years, he traveled the world to promote his novels.
