Singer Rae Morris was born in Blackpool, Lancashire, England in September 2, 1992. Morris started playing piano when she was four years old and attended Cardinal Newman College, where she studied music and drama.
While playing shows around Blackpool, she was discovered by Sean McGinty, who got her on to the BBC Introducing stage at the Reading and Leeds Festival in August 2011. Also in August 2011, she signed with Universal Music Publishing Group. She then signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records in September 2011. Her debut single, “Don’t Go,” was released in March 2012. She subsequently released three EPs entitled “For You,” “Grow,” and “From Above” from mid-2012 through 2013. In 2014, she released two singles “Closer” and “Cold” with corresponding EPs. “Closer” peaked at number 27 and “Cold” peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists chart. She was long-listed on the BBC Sound of 2015 poll and released her debut album, “Unguarded,” in January 2015. The album peaked at number nine on the Billboard UK Albums chart.
