Poppy Ackroyd (1982) is from London and is now settled in Brighton. She is a brilliant composer and pianist who is classically trained on violin and piano from which she produces multi-tracking sounds. Poppy Ackroyd has released her debut album Escapement in December 2012 as well as a DVD which has seen the featuring of Tom Newell Escapement Visualised in September 2014. Her second album was a continuation of the first one but with the addition of keyboard and string instruments. Poppy Ackroyd has worked hand in hand with artists like Manu Delago on hang, Mike Lesirge on flute and clarinets, and Jo Quail on cello. Poppy is a member of Joe Acheson’s live project Hidden Orchestra. Her music is classified as 'intricate, delicate, and lyrical'. In November 2021, the fourth full-length album Paused will be released. This album was written during the Pandemic and the title evokes her own situation as a young mother who gave birth to her first child and the one of the whole world, paralyzed by the global Pandemic.
