About Grand Corps Malade
Fabien Marsaud is a French rapper and poet who was born on July 31st 1977 at Le Blanc-Mesnil, Seine-Saint-Denis, Île-de-France, France. His father was Jacques Marsaud (a community activist) and his mother was a librarian.
Fabien got his diploma Diplôme d'études universitaires générales (DEUG) in "Sciences et techniques des activités physiques et sportives." He once played basketball but soon had to give it up after suffering an injury to the spine in a swimming pool. He then took up the name Grand Corps Malade (meaning Tall Sick Body in English).
Fabien is the first French artist to help expand slam in France. His first album Midi 20 got a lot of coverage upon its release back in 2006. His sophomore release Enfant de la Ville hit the #2 spot on the French album charts. The album was released in 2008. That year he also got to perform outside France. Two years later his third studio album 3ème Temps followed featuring a track collaboration with Charles Aznavour on the track Tu es donc j’apprends. In 2011 he then released the single Inch’Allah and it turned out to be his first-ever charting single, peaking at #59 in the French chart.
As an actor and writer, he’s known for Patients (2016), School Life (2019) and Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart (2013).
