Elmer Earl Hartman IV, better known as Butch Hartman, is an animator, director, writer, and producer born on January 10, 1965, in Highland Park, Michigan. He attended the California Institute of the Arts, where he studied character animation. Hartman has worked as a storyboard and background artist in shows like Dexter’s Laboratory and Johnny Bravo before creating his first series, The Fairly Odd Parents. The series began as a part of the anthology series Oh Yeah! Cartoons before being developed as its own show, which premiered on Nickelodeon in 2001. Hartman continued to work with Nickelodeon until 2018. During this time, he created several more shows, including Danny Phantom and T.U.F.F. Puppy. After parting ways with Nickelodeon, Hartman started his own YouTube channel where he posts videos of him drawing in his trademark style. Hartman also has a podcast called Speech Bubble where he interviews his guests, usually from the entertainment industry. Some of his past guests include voice actors like Tara Strong, Grey Griffin, and Vic Mignogna.
