Anthony Cosmo Callea is a singer and a songwriter born on December 13, 1982, in Melbourne, Australia. He first gained fame during his time in Australian Idol in 2004, where he became the runner-up for that season. Following his Idol success, Callea released the single The Prayer, which topped the ARIA charts and became one of the fastest selling singles in Australia. His debut self-titled album was released in 2005 and had similar success to his first single. Callea regularly tours nationally, headlining his own shows as well as touring with the likes of Celine Dion, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Westlife. Callea has received multiple awards for his music, including an ARIA Music award for Highest Selling Single, multiple ARIA nominations, MTV Viewer’s Choice Award, and Variety’s Young Entertainer of the Year. In addition to commanding the stage as a singer, Callea has also performed in the Australian production of Rent, Wicked, and Grease.
