Ahmet Kaya was a Turkish folk singer of Kurdish origin, born on October 28, 1957, in Malatya, Turkey. He is best known for the songs Kurduz Olene Kadar, Ayrilik Vakti, Söyle, Agladikça, Oy Benim Canim, Birazdan Kudurur Deniz, Arka Mahalle, Kum Gibi, Nereden Bileceksiniz, Hani Benim Gençligim, Yakarim Geceleri and Safak Türküsü. He released his first album Aglama Bebegim in 1985. The Turkish singer established his own label GAK together with his wife. His best-known album Şarkılarım Dağlara was released in 1994 and sold in record copies. He recorded around 20 albums during his career. Earlier in his career, he played as a musician in the band of Ferdi Tayfur. He later staged concerts with Hüseyin Demirel. Ahmet was accused of supporting the Kurdish Terror organization and left Turkey for Paris in June 1999. He died from a heart attack in Paris on November 16, 2000.
