Tom Odell was born in West Sussex in the Town of Chichester. He studied at Brighton Institute of modern music where he learned to play the piano. He began writing songs as a teenager and joined the band Tom and the Tides eventually leaving to become a solo act. His first album Songs From Another Love was released in 2012 and his first full length album Long Way Down in 2013. This album was a huge success and went straight to the top of the charts. After this album he spent two years touring supporting Elton John, Rolling Stones and Billy Joel. In 2014 he won the Ivor Novello award for songwriter of the year and after the tour he began work on the LP Wrong Crowd, released in 2016.
