Coming from London, England, Savages was formed in 2011 as an all-female post-punk rock band. Gemma Thompson and Camille Bethomier (Jehnny Beth) decided on the band’s names after which they started writing songs. A bit later, Ayse Hassan and Fay Milton joined completing the quartet. In January 2012, they started performing as support act for the band British Sea Power.
They signed in under Pop Noir label releasing a double-A-side single “Flying to Berlin/Husbands.” Savages were nominated for BBC Sound of 2013 award. In 2012, “I Am Here” was released, followed by the release of “Silence Yourself,” their debut album under Matador Records.
