The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, or the Bosstones, are an American reggae band formed in 1983 and hailing from Boston, Massachusetts. The band was formed by lead vocalist Dicky Barrett, bass player Joe Gittleman, saxophonist Tim Burton, and dancer Ben Carr and have remained the core members of the group. The group also consists of rotating members such as Joe Gittleman, John Goetchius, Lawrence Katz, Chris Rhodes, Leon Silva, Joe Sirois, Nate Albert, Tim Bridewell, Dennis Brockenborough, Joshua Dalsimer, Roman Fleysher, and Kevin Lenear. The group plays in the genres of ska punk, ska-core, third wave ska, and alternative.
The Bosstones released their debut singles on the Mash It Up ska compilation with the singles “The Cave” and “Ugly” in 1987. In 1989 they released the single “Drums and Chickens.” In the same year the group signed to the label Taang! They released their debut album in 1989 called Devil’s Night Out. The next release by The Bosstones was the Where’d You Go? EP. The EP featured covers of Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion,” Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” and Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘bout Love.” The group released 8 more albums up to 2011 with their newest album being The Magic of Youth.
