Comprised of two elementary school friends from New York, the duo Holy Ghost! was created by Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser. Highly interested in music, the two were originally members of a group known as Automato, which performed hip-hop music. When Automato broke up, Frankel and Millhiser decided to continue on by themselves, finally choosing the name Holy Ghost! for their endeavor. They released their debut single, entitled “Hold On”, in late 2007, which was co-produced with the production team DFA. Their second single, “I Will Come Back”, was released in 2009, and the corresponding music video was a snapshot of the color and energy commonly found in the New York City nightclubs.

Holy Ghost! followed their two-single resume with the EP Static on the Wire, which was reminiscent of the nightclub jams of the 1980s. 2011 saw the release of their self-titled album, which included some of the singles they had already put out. After remixing songs from famous artists such as MGMT, Phoenix, Moby, and various others, they put out their sophomore album – again with the DFA – in 2013, entitled Dynamics.
