Datsik is the stage name of Troy Beetles, a Canadian electronic music producer and DJ. He was born on the 8th of June, 1988, in Kelowna, British Columbia. He began producing and remixing music in the late 2000s, when he released a few singles on Rottun Records. He gained recognition after his collaborations with Excision, the founder of his label. Datsik has collaborated with major artists in the industry such as Diplo, Wu-Tang Clan and The Crystal Method. His music has influences of funk, classical hip hop and electronic house. In 2012, he released his first studio album “Vitamin D”, under the Dim Mak independent label. The album features guest artists such as Infected Mushroom, Snak The Ripper and Z-Trip. In the same year, Datsik started his own label named Firepower Records. Under his label, he has released several records such as an EP titled “Cold Blooded”.
