The Proclaimers are a folk duo formed in Scotland by twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reid, born on March 5, 1962, near Edinburgh. In 1983 they founded the duo after playing in punk bands, and in 1986 they toured with The Housemartins. Their first album, produced by John Williams, went out in 1987. Their single “Letter from America” made them famous in the U.K. and the U.S. In 1988 they would release “Sunshine on Leith”, which went platinum in the U.K. This second full-length album featured the single “I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)”, which appeared in the film Benny & Joon in 1993. The album’s title also went on to be the anthem of Scottish soccer team Hibernian F.C. In 2001, after two more studio albums, producer Chris Kimsey worked with the duo to release a greatest hits album. That same year, “Sunshine on Leith” album single “I'm on My Way” appeared in the 2001 movie Shrek. In the following years, they would tour the U.S. and the U.K., up until 2018.
