German rapper Carlo Waibel, who is known internationally as Cro, was born on January 31, 1990. Attracted to music at an early age, Cro learned how to play the guitar and piano, and began recording music when he was a young teenager. At the age of 19, he released his debut mixtape entitled Trash. Two years later, he put out the mixtape Meine Musik, which gained the attention of music producers in Germany and eventually led him to meet executives at Chimperator Productions. November of 2011 saw the release of his music video for “Easy”, which garnered over 12 million views in less than 3 months on YouTube. The song was eventually certified Gold in his home country, and in late 2012, he released the mixtape Maop shortly before releasing his debut album Raop. The album was recognized by MTV as “Album of the Year”. Cro is largely known for donning a panda mask during his performances.
